Softening advice

There are times when you are giving advice to friend who has a problem.
In this case you may wish to speak more softly as well as give them some encouragement.
Tag questions can help you do this.

You could change jobs, couldn’t you?
You should probably call your parents, shouldn’t you?

このような場合、いつもより優しく話しかけてあげて、勇気づけたいと思うかもしれませんよね。
