Question #4: What will I have to do exactly in Task 2?
Task 2: Individual long turn (1-2 minute speech) This section of the test lasts about 3-4 minutes. The purpose of Task 2 of the IELTS speaking test is to measure your ability to speak for an extended period. In Task 2, you will be given a card that asks you to describe something familiar to you. The card will look like this:
You should say: - What the season is and when it occurs - What the weather is like during this season - What your typical activities are during this season
The card has three prompts that will help you to prepare and think of things to talk about. It is generally a good idea to cover these points, but it is not essential to do so. Other topics that may be given include such topics as your dream job, a person you respect, or your most valuable possession.
You will have one-minute to think about what you are going to say. You will also have a pen and paper to make notes if you think this will help you.
The interviewer is listening to see how fluently you can speak about the topic. After you have finished speaking, the interviewer may ask you one or two short follow-up question.
