For example

“For example” is a very common phrase in English.
In writing, it is often shortened to “e.g.” (not ex.).
E.g. comes from the Latin phrase exempli gratia.

Compare:
E.g. = For example (exmpli gratia) (There are great ski areas in Hokkaido e.g. Niseko, Rutsusu, and Furano.)
Ex. = Exercise (Please answer all the questions in ex.1)

“For example”「＝例えば」は、とてもよく使われるフレーズです。
文章では、よく短縮されて“e.g.”となります。(ex.ではない)
“e.g.” は、ラテン語の exempli gratia （＝例えば） から来ています。
