Affect Vs. Effect

The two words sounds similar, but are often used incorrectly.
The simple way to choose which to use is to remember one is a verb and one is a noun.

Affect is a verb and is used in sentences such as,
“Alcohol affects your ability to drive.” or “The music affected him greatly.”

Effect is a noun. It is usually used with the verb ‘have’. It is used in sentences such as,
“The medicine may have some negative effects.” or ”The movie had some great special effects!”

この2つの言葉の響きは似ていますが、間違って使われていることがよくあります。
1つは動詞、そしてもう1つは名詞ということを覚えていれば、使い方はシンプルです。

Affect は動詞で、以下のような文章の時などに使われます。
「アルコールは運転に悪影響を与えます。」や「その音楽は彼に多大な影響を与えた。」
といった具合に使われます。

Effect は名詞です。
通常、動詞の”have”と一緒に使われることが多く、このような文章などに使われます。
「その薬は副作用を与えるかもしれません。」や「その映画は素晴らしい特殊効果が使われていた！」と
いったように使われます。
