Thingymajig!

  • 2016.03.18

Everyone has times when they can’t remember the name of something (or someone). In this situation, speakers usually replace the forgotten word with ”thingymajig” or "thingy” for short. The speaker often adds some pointing and gesturing to help the listener guess the meaning.
Example:
A: I need that…thingymajig…Could you pass it to me?
B: What? This notebook?
A: Yeah. That’s it. Thanks.
