That Sounds Funny

In English, the word funny has two popular uses.

First, it is used to describe an amusing person, item or action.
For example:
His jokes are always funny.
That was one of the funniest movies I ever seen!

Second, it is also used to describe something that is unusual or odd. It is usually used in a negative context.
For example:
This milk smells funny. I don’t think we should drink it. (The milk smells bad.)
My stomach feels a bit funny. (I have an upset stomach.)

“funny”という言葉には、ポピュラーな使われ方が2つあります。

1つ目は、おもしろい人・物や動きについて説明するのに使われます。
例：彼の冗談はいつも面白い。
その映画は、今まで見た中で最も面白い映画の1つでした！

2つ目に、“funny”という単語は、普通ではないこと・異様なことについて説明する時にも使われます。
通常、否定的意味で使われます。
例：この牛乳はおかしな匂いがします。飲むべきでないと思います。 (その牛乳は悪い匂いがします。)
胃が少し変な感じがします。(胃の調子がおかしいです。)
