gather

前回、お花見について海外の方に、「Hanami is a Japanese custom which people gather under cherry trees to have picnics to enjoy the blossoms.」と説明をした。という話をしましたが、その時に「集まる」という意味で「gather」を使いましたが、私は今までこの単語を使ったことがなかったので調べてみたら、公園や駅などに人々が集まる時（People gathered at the park）や情報を集める時（Let’s gather the information first.）などに使うそうで、ばらばらになっているもの、散らばっているものを寄せ集めるというイメージのようです。
