Beginner’s Luck

For some strange reason, it seems that when a person first starts doing something, such as playing a game or sport, they often achieve something quite amazing. We call this “beginner’s luck”.

Example: My friend started playing golf last month, and today, she shot a hole-in-one! It must have been beginner’s luck!

不思議なことに、人がゲームやスポーツなどを初めてやってみる時、驚くような素晴らしい成績を収めることがよくあります。それをbeginner’s luckと言います。
例：友達は先月ゴルフを始め、そして今日、彼女はホールインワンを打った！beginner’s luckだったに違いない！
